Over the past year, ESONA Relief Fund launched its inaugural Student Leader Internship Program. This exciting initiative offered students from across the United States a valuable opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the realm of nonprofit management. Furthermore, it challenged them to raise essential funds for a new campaign aimed at providing humanitarian aid to orphans and underprivileged children.
The program was thoughtfully divided into three distinct branches: outreach, marketing, and fundraising. Our teams consisted of 19 student leaders:
Outreach: Apramey Akkiraju, Hamza Doost, Eshal Aziz, Pariza Farooq, Ayan Bhakta, Edrees Sekandari
Fundraising: Ash Bhakta, Bruce Ruan, Brooklyn Smith, Keyaan Husain, Erica Eastland, Maehur Aulakh, Monib Doost
Marketing: Victoria Kirova, Allison Paulos, Priyanka Kumar, Hasini, Trinity Jackson, Habib Doost
Apramey Akkiraju, who helmed the outreach team, was entrusted with mentoring five student leaders. They worked diligently on securing sponsorships, gaining media coverage, and engaging with companies about ESONA's initiatives. Victoria Kirova, who directed the marketing team, led a group of eight talented students in curating consistent social media content and implementing crowdsourcing strategies. Lastly, Ash Bhakta, the fundraising lead, was tasked with organizing a fundraiser - our memorable benefit concert. Assisted by his dedicated team of seven student leaders, the event was a success.
Spanning four months, the internship involved weekly meetings that allowed our interns to make significant contributions to our mission. Beyond just a learning experience, the program enabled the interns to develop essential skills that are highly coveted in today's professional landscape.
Through the collective efforts of our teams, we raised over $10,000 in our campaigns, an achievement that enabled us to provide sustenance for thousands and create a lasting impact.
